A Journey of Transformation and Hope
“From a life once lost… to a mission of restoring others.”
Some stories break your heart. Others rebuild it.
The story of Apostle Ndura Waruinge does both — and it’s the beating heart behind MFWAFO Foundation.
Born into poverty in a polygamous family as the 14th child, Ndura grew up in hardship. With limited opportunities and no safety net, his early years were marked by rejection, survival, and a restless search for belonging. After a failed attempt to join the military — his one hope for a better future — he ended up on the streets of Nairobi, homeless, hungry, and hopeless.
Like many vulnerable young men, he was pulled into a world of crime and violence. He rose to become a national leader of the Mungiki sect — once one of Kenya’s most feared underground movements. It was a life driven by pain and rebellion, but also by a deep, unspoken longing for identity, meaning, and peace.

A Turning Point — A Voice That Changed Everything
In 2004, in the middle of chaos and conflict, Ndura heard a voice. He describes it as the unmistakable voice of God — calling him out of darkness and into purpose. That moment changed everything.
He renounced Mungiki publicly, walked away from a life of violence, and chose a different path: a path of faith, compassion, and healing. Since that day, he has never looked back.

From Pain to Purpose — The Birth of MFWAFO Foundation
Ndura knew his transformation was not just for him. It was for every youth trapped in addiction. Every elder forgotten in poverty. Every woman locked out of opportunity. Every community torn apart by conflict.
It was for all those he once walked among — and for those who still wander without hope.
He founded MFWAFO Foundation to be a place of second chances. A place where dignity is restored, purpose is reignited, and peace is possible — no matter how broken the past has been.

A Leader Who Understands the Struggle
What makes Apostle Ndura’s leadership so powerful is that he’s lived the pain that so many of MFWAFO’s beneficiaries experience. He doesn’t lead from above — he walks alongside. With compassion. With humility. With unshakable faith.
Under his guidance, MFWAFO has:
- Supported 1,500+ elderly with food, care, and love
- Helped hundreds of youth break free from drugs and violence
- Trained women and youth in sustainable livelihoods
- Provided scholarships to children who once had no chance
- Built bridges of peace in places once marked by fear
